For the foreseeable future, the Pella City Council is adding an extra work session per month to address numerous topics.

Assistant City Administrator Corey Goodenow says most of the agendas for the council have been packed with action items lately, with several ongoing large-scale projects and initiatives taking up time to plan ahead. On this week’s agenda, the council will talk about compensation and benefits for elected officials, zoning requests made by council, board members, or staff, an update to the city’s sidewalk inspection program, and potential areas identified for annexation. No formal action will be taken on any of the agenda items. The Pella City Council’s special work session begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street.

After this week’s meeting, Goodenow anticipates the council will hold additional special meetings on the second Tuesday of the month to have more time to discuss issues in depth.
