Pella’s cross country teams made a leap up in the final rankings from the Iowa High School Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Organization.

The Lady Dutch finish in the final rankings as No. 4, as they finished just one point behind No. 3 DCG at last week’s state qualifying meet. Pella’s boys jumped to their highest mark of the season, sitting as No. 6 in the Class 3A field. They two finished in 2nd place at the district meet, behind No. 2 Carlisle.

Head Coach Doug Cutler tells KRLS Sports he looks forward to seeing how much faster both squads can be this weekend.

“We like the fact that we run such a challenging state qualifying course, because now is that this week is going to be faster, and they know they’re going to run faster,” Cutler says.

Pella’s boys and girls compete at state this weekend in Fort Dodge, with their races beginning over the noon hour. Look for Cutler’s comments about the girls race on tomorrow’s local sports.
