A Pella High Senior who swims for the Newton team has an reached individual state qualifying standard this season.

Lindsey Blommers timed at 1:07.37 for the 6th fastest 100 yard breaststroke in Iowa. Blommers is one of two Pella seniors competing for the Newton-Colfax-Mingo-Pella swim team, done as part of an agreement between the schools. She also has the fastest 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley. Senior Rachel Boll has the 2nd fastest 100 backstroke on the team.

Teammate and Pella freshman Hannah Nedder is just outside of the qualifying marks in the 50 freestyle (25.77) and 100 butterfly races (1:01.73). The district meet to qualify for state is run on October 27th.
