Winning a state title for the first time is special on many levels. For the PCM football team winning their first state championship on Friday didn’t just mean celebration for the players and coaches, but the community as well.

When the Mustangs defeated Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley 28-7 Friday afternoon in the class 2A state title game, the party started for the Prairie City and Monroe communities. Senior runningback tells Wes Cummings KRLS Sports the elusive first state championship is for everyone involved.

“This belongs to past teams we played on and past guys I have looked up to. This belongs to the community. Raising that trophy up is a dream come true.”

The Mustangs capped off a perfect 13-0 season.
