Indianola Municipal Utilities is asking residents to be patient during the rollout of fiber internet to the city.

IMU General Manager Tom Gaffigan tells KNIA News the service will be coming soon, but it’s more important for them to install fiber correctly rather than quickly.

“Things are moving a little more slowly than we would like, but we only get one chance at this to make a first impression. It’s not like the gas and water industry where we have a monopoly, we have competition with other cable and internet providers so we have to provide a good product and its important to be successful right out of the chute.”

Gaffigan also said he is excited to bring fiber to the area, and that he thinks it will open up a number of large opportunities and bring room for expansion to local businesses.
