Indianola man and Medal of Honor recipient Junior Dean Edwards will be honored Sunday at the Freedom Rock dedication in Norwalk.

Edwards was killed in Korea in 1951 after charging a machine gun emplacement three times with nothing but grenades. The Freedom Rock Tour is artist Ray “Bubba” Sorensen painting patriotic murals on large rocks around the state of Iowa and aims to spread the message of thanking our Veterans while providing a unique Freedom Rock for all 99 counties.

The rock in Norwalk is the 78th Freedom Rock to be painted, and will feature a painting of an American Flag draped over the top, a Medal of Honor, and a depiction of the battleship USS Iowa. The unveiling is open to the public at Warrior Run Golf Course in Norwalk, beginning at 3pm.
