As winter weather will return soon, residents are reminded to follow snow ordinances in Indianola.

If forecasts indicate that two inches of snow or more is probable the City of Indianola may begin proactive notification that the snow ordinance will go into effect, and will go into effect after two inches of snow has fallen until streets are plowed. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city will be proactive, but won’t plow unless a significant amount of snow has fallen.

“We just want to remind residents that we won’t plow until 2 inches of snow has fallen, and public streets both downtown and residential will be cleared within 24 hours of a snow event. We will treat the roads with sand and salt to deal with ice, but we won’t plow unless there has been two inches.”

Vehicles parked on the streets during a snow removal effort may be ticketed and/or towed to allow for safe and efficient plow operations. To view the snow ordinance policy for Indianola, click below.
