While watching a football game from the comfort of a warm UNI-Dome might be ideal for any fan this time of the year, sometimes the drastic change in temperature can come as a shock to the players. Luckily, for the PCM football team for the last week and a half they have got used to these warmer temperatures by practicing indoors.

Everyday after school the Mustangs have made the half-hour trek southeast to Oskaloosa to practice at William Penn University’s indoor facility. Not only can they beat the bitter cold outside, but also the players can once again get conditioned to similar climate they will experience at the dome. It’s hard to argue that those practices didn’t help the Mustangs last week in their semifinal win, as they wore down West Liberty en route to a 27-0 shutout. The Comets struggled for less than 200 yards of offense against the suffocating Mustang defense.

PCM hopes the indoor practices helps them out one final time Friday afternoon when they take on Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley for the class 2A state championship game. Tune into KNIA starting at 1:30 p.m. to listen to the broadcast.
