The KNIA/KRLS Food Drive continues; on Wednesday, the Lil’ Big Red Radio came to the Knoxville Hy-Vee to collect money and food donations for those in need around our area.

One big gift was received during the course of the day — a check for $500.

Hy-Vee General Manager Kelly Kayser tells KNIA/KRLS News this donation was enough to allow them to give the maximum matching gift for the day.

“It was as a challenge to both the radio station and myself to make sure that we matched it, and we are matching everything up to $500,” Kayser says. “But I also don’t want to discourage anybody else from donating, because the food bank needs every bit of support we can do.”

The Knoxville Hy-Vee is one of several locations where you can donate either money or food; donors have the option of buying bags of food at $10 or $20 each, but donations in any amount are welcome.

The Lil’ Big Red Radio will return every Friday afternoon, from now through Christmas.
