One Knoxville-based charity is looking beyond Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday and the other unofficial holidays on the calendar this week to Giving Tuesday.

This is the annual worldwide campaign to seek donors for non-profit organizations; Habitat for Humanity of Marion County is among the participants, and wants people to take time out from their Christmas preparations to help support families who need their assistance.

Robin Pfalzgraf is Executive Director for the Knoxville-based agency; she tells KNIA/KRLS News one thing we give thanks for at Thanksgiving is having a home, and this is an opportunity to help give others in town this same opportunity.

“Working in the non-profit world, it’s been kind of a gift to hear people talk about how much it means to them to give and help someone else, and even years later drive by a home and know they were part of it, either by donating labor or donating monetarily,” Pfalzgraf says.

Habitat for Humanity is currently busy with six different projects, including two in Knoxville, and Pfalzgraf says contributions of either money or volunteer effort are welcome.

You may donate online during Giving Tuesday, or any other day, or send your contributions directly to their offices at 114 West Robinson Avenue in Knoxville.
