Knoxville School District employees will keep their health insurance company, and won’t see any changes in their policy other than a new card.

The school board voted to use the health insurance plan provided by Wellmark, beginning in January; this comes at the recommendation of District Business Manager Craig Mobley..

He says the only changes will be procedural and won’t affect the actual policy users’ benefits.

The board also received two donations towards food-related programs from Knoxville Food Youth Initiative, or K:FYI. $500 goes to the Miss Mary Strawberry’s nutrition education classes, and another $1200 to the Panther Food Pantry.

The next regularly-scheduled meeting of the Board has been called off; while the board is looking at several important matters coming up in the early part of the year, there’s nothing pressing right now — so they have cancelled the November 26th meeting.
