The PCM Mustangs took down the West Liberty Comets 27-0 Saturday night to move on to their first ever football state championship game.

The Mustangs would see early scores from Wes Cummings and Brayton VanDyke as well as a field goal from Andrew Mitchell to lead 17-0 at the half. Isaac Telfer would get into the endzone early in the third quarter and Reed Worth would boot in another field goal to cap the score at 27-0. The real story of the night was the PCM defense though as they set the tone for the night holding the Comets to under 200 yards of total offense on their way to their fifth shutout of the season. The Mustang defense was seen flying to the ball Saturday delivering devastating hits and causing three turnovers in their wake. The number one ranked and undefeated Mustangs will now take on Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley on Friday at 2 p.m. in the class 2A state championship after the Nighthawks dismantling of Waukon 48-12 in the other class 2A semifinal on Saturday.
