A carbon monoxide leak in a dormitory at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy sent dozens of police officers to hospitals, but none from Marion or Warren counties were directly affected.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office had one officer in training there, and the Indianola Police Department had two; none of these officers were in the building affected by the leak.

Nearly sixty cadets at the academy in Johnston were taken in to be examined after complaining of headaches, lightheadedness and nausea.

Authorities reported measuring high levels of carbon monoxide inside the dorm; the source of the leak is being investigated.
