As Pella Christian prepares for their state semifinals matchup with Dike-New Hartford Saturday, they remain largely thankful for the efforts of one of their key senior playmakers.

Nathan De Bruin, an All-State Kicker a season ago, is well on his way to earning the honor again after making three field goals in the 23-21 victory over Bellevue in the quarterfinals. De Bruin is now a perfect 40 for 40 on point after tries, nine-for-nine on field goals, and has 19 touchbacks.

The senior showed off his flexibility Friday night, recovering his own opening kickoff after it deflected off of a Comets’ returner, intercepted a key pass in the fourth quarter, and caught six passes in the place of leading receiver Jayden Huisman, who will miss the rest of the season due to injury.

Pella Christian will play in the Class 1A Final Four at 10 a.m. Saturday against undefeated Dike-New Hartford, with pregame coverage beginning at 9:30 on 92.1 KRLS.
