The Pella Lady Dutch volleyball team will make their 4th straight appearance at the state tournament this afternoon when they begin the quarterfinals round against No. 2 Cedar Rapids Xavier.

Pella sits at 31-6 as the 7th seed, the Saints are 27-9 as the No. 2 overall seed. Head Coach Catie Brand tells KRLS Sports Xavier is a solid team across the floor, with size and talented athletes in key positions.

“We do know their very physical, very tall, they have a mixture of seniors and sophomores, so they do have that experience, as well as that eagerness of youth on the court,” she says.

Today’s match is the 10th time Pella has made it to the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, and Pella has yet to play the Saints at the state tournament. Coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS, as Andrew Schneider heads up to Cedar Rapids, with opening serve at 4:00 p.m.
