The winter broadcast season gets underway tonight on KNIA/KRLS and two Marion County teams will face off in Melcher-Dallas, as the Saints welcome Pleasantville to town for a girl/boy basketball doubleheader.

The Pleasantville girls were postponed last night and come into the contest 2-0 on the season while Melcher-Dallas fell in their only game 43-41 against Wayne. Emilie Krpan kept the Saints in that game with 18 points and will be a player to look out for leading the team in scoring last year. The Trojans have been balanced with five players with at least 7.5 points per game led by Carlie Sloan and Taylor Foley with 8.5.

On the boys’ side this marks the first game of the new campaign for both squads. The Saints are coming off of an 11-8 year and bring back their top two scorers in Ethan Harrington and Blaise Cooper averaging 11 points a night. The Trojans were 17-6 a season ago but have a lot of new faces. Grant Fouch brings back experience averaging 6 points a contest last year.

The girls’ game gets started at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow. Listen to the game on the KNIA3 Stream at kniakrls.com with Cole Cook and Tom Wilkins on the call.
