Authorities believe there’s no actual risk to any of the Knoxville schools, after a student was taken into custody for issuing an online threat.

The district notified parents and students on Tuesday morning about the arrest of the student; he had reportedly made a threat via social media, which was brought to the attention of police.

Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS News the 17-year-old was arrested on a charge of threat of terrorism, and that firearms were not involved in the threat.

District officials say the matter was handled well before classes began for the day, and no students were at risk.
