The Rotary Club of Indianola recently participated in the Ride to End Polio, a fundraising effort spread around the world supporting the cause to end polio.

Rotarians from District 5500 rode miles on bicycles, with sponsors paying for each mile, which were matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Terry Pauling with the Indianola Rotary Club tells KNIA News how their participation was a part of a much larger effort.

“Last year Rotary Club 6000 here in Iowa was the largest doner in the Ride to End Polio with $8,000 given to Rotary International, and they wanted to be #1 this year as well with the goal of raising $16,000, and I thought Indianola could be a part of that and we helped out as we could.”

The Indianola Rotary Club rode 39 miles in an hour and raised over $200.
