Several local football players were selected to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association All-State Football team.

PCM was well-represented on the list, as the undefeated 13-0 Mustangs won the Class 2A state championship. Wes Cummings was named the Class 2A captain, and was a first-team selection as running back. Reed Worth was the First Team Quarterback as well, and Jace Smith was on the offensive line. Seth Greiner was a first team honoree on the defensive line. Brayton Van Dyke and Brycen Rogers earned 2nd team defensive honors, and Jarron Trausch and Nick Dredge were 3rd team All-State defensive picks. Greyson Strum was named to the 3rd team offensive line.

Pella Christian’s Koby Van Houweling was named to the first-team Class 1A All-State offensive line, while Noah Treimer at running back and Josh Adkison were second-team picks. Nathan De Bruin, who was 9 of 11 on field goals and 43 of 43 on point after tries, was the 3rd-team kicker selection. The Eagles ended their season in the state semifinals at the UNI Dome for the second consecutive season.

In Class 3A, Pella also had four selections, including Defensive Lineman Nick DeJong and Ryan Gustafson as a defensive back on the first team All-State defense. Bobby Sheil was named to the second team offensive line, and Aaron Downs was a third-team choice at wide receiver. The Little Dutch ended their football season against eventual state champions Xavier in the round of 16 in the playoffs.
