According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the most traveled holiday period of the year is Thanksgiving weekend, and DUI arrests are at their highest between Thanksgiving and the end of New Year’s weekend.

State Trooper Alex Dinkla tells KNIA News there will be high traffic volumes, so be patient on the roadways.

“We want you to get to your destination safely, but that means being patient with the increased traffic and keeping your eyes on the road at all times. Be ready to come to a complete stop on the interstates or highly traveled roads, because you never know when things might be stopped. So just always be aware of your surroundings.”

Dinkla also said that with the increase of deer traffic going on now, to pay attention to the ditches and shoulders, especially as you pass farm fields.
