For the first time in program history, a Central College women’s soccer player was chosen for the Google Cloud Academic All-America team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Junior midfielder Elise Askelsen (Indianola) was appointed to the third team. Askelsen now gives Central a total of 58 Academic All-Americans since 1979. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity contributor, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better and have reached sophomore standing. CoSIDA members first submit ballots for a district team before selected nominees advance for consideration on the national squad. Askelsen is a mathematics major with a 4.0 GPA. She started in 17 of the team’s 18 contests, playing 1,256 minutes this season.
