The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday.

The council heard a presentation from the Iowa Department of Transportation about the possibility of converting sections of Highway 92 and 65/69 from four lanes to three lanes. No official action was taken after the presentation, but the DOT asked for a decision on how to proceed by February of 2019 which was agreed to by the council. The council also approved the creation of an administrative clerk position at City Hall, and approved a rezoning request. After the meeting, the council and city staff members held a study session sharing the results of a survey the city sent out on prioritizations on the budget. Public safety was the number one concern from the public, including the creation of a School Resource Officer in partnership with the Indianola Police Department and Indianola Community School District.
