No silence in the library on Friday afternoon, as the Knoxville Public Library hosted a performance of holiday music and other songs by the Knoxville Middle School band.

The band had just performed on Thursday night before friends and family at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center, one of a series of performances during the holiday season for various levels of the Knoxville School District’s music program.

Roslin Thompson from the Knoxville Public Library told the audience this was an ideal opportunity for the library to expand its offerings, and an opportunity for those in the public who otherwise wouldn’t get a chance to attend a performance.

“It gives people…some of the people in the community a chance to listen to middle school band, especially if they don’t have kids or grandkids in band; so we’re so happy that they’re here,” Thompson said.

The band is accustomed to practicing in their own band room and performing at the K-PAC, but their trip to the library may have had a familiar feel…since the library is temporarily housed at the former East Elementary School.
