An agreement to begin the “road diet” construction project in Knoxville is scheduled to be up for discussion during tonight’s City Council meeting.

The council is scheduled to discuss and possibly take action on an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation; the city would be responsible for the hot mix paving and milling of Lincoln Street from the north city limits to the south limits.

The agreement also covers upgrading of traffic signals, and the conversion of the road from four lanes to three.

The council will also hear specifications for all of its other road projects for the coming year; the specs will be placed on file, and contractors will be invited to submit bids.

Tonight’s meeting convenes at 6:15 p.m. and can be heard live on AM 1320/FM 94.3/FM 95.3 KNIA.
