Hy-Vee diners had some company for breakfast this weekend; dogs from the shelter at Marion County Humane Society were on hand, helping to drum up support for the shelter and possibly find new homes for themselves.

Breakfast with the Dogs on Saturday morning featured a donation of $1 for every breakfast sold; there were also homemade dog treats on sale, and information on how to go about adopting one or more of their pets.

Jessica Stough is secretary of the Society’s board of directors; she tells KNIA/KRLS News all proceeds go towards caring for the animals.

“A lot of the funds go to getting the dogs…altered, so they can go out for adoption. And food and supplies for the animals as well,” Stough says.

For anyone who missed out on this opportunity, they’ll get another one…as the Humane Society returns for a similar event in February.

The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was on the scene, playing holiday music and broadcasting live from the event.
