Gov. Kim Reynolds announced on Wednesday that the U.S. Small Business Administration granted her request to provide assistance in the form of low-interest disaster loans in Warren, Marion, Polk, and five other counties impacted by the summer severe weather events.

Warren County Emergency Management Coordinator Troy Bass tells KNIA News several different weather events led to the money being approved by FEMA.

“Warren County was fortunate that we only had a windstorm, while Polk County had flooding and Marion County had a tornado, but all the area counties were fortunate that they happened near each other so it wasn’t just one county applying for aid, it was the state and several counties to help our local economies recover.”

Homeowners, renters, businesses and most nonprofit organizations whose property was damaged or destroyed by this disaster, will be able to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA. Applications may be made in person at the SBA’s Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Des Moines, with representatives from the SBA will be on hand to answer questions about the disaster loan program, explain the application process and help individuals complete their application. No appointment is necessary.
