Both the Pella High girls and boys basketball teams led wire-to-wire in a 54-36, 50-37 sweep of Fairfield in a non-conference doubleheader heard live last night on 92.1 KRLS.

In the girls game, Emily Holterhaus scored a game high 18 points and grabbed a school record 24 rebounds for coach Jerod Garland’s club.

“She was awesome tonight. This was her best game by far. Not just the rebounds, the putbacks, cleaning up the glass and just affecting a lot of other shots. Maybe she doesn’t get the block or the rebound, but she alters the shot or takes away something they’re looking for and they have to make another pass. She played really well on both ends of the floor tonight.”

Sidnie Van Vark was also in double figures with 12 points, and Madison Naig chipped in seven rebounds. Pella is now 3-3 on the season.

In the boys game, it was defense that dominated the day for Pella. The Little Dutch held the Trojans to just nine first half points, and they forced Fairfield into 22 turnovers – more than twice their season average.

John Oltman led the way with 12 points, Ryan Gustafson added 11 and Logan Shetterly scored 10. Pella is now 3-2.

Both the Lady Dutch and Little Dutch will host Norwalk in Little Hawkeye Conference action on Friday night.
