With the holiday season bringing the spirit of giving, residents are reminded to save as much paperwork as possible for when tax season arrives in the new year.

Janel Crowe with H&R Block in Indianola tells KNIA News the biggest mistake people make when trying to get their taxes done is lack of receipts.

“Not having documentation is one of the most frustrating things people can go through during tax season. People remember donating food or gifts to charity is always remembered by people because it is so close to tax time, but you gotta have your receipts and bring those with you along with all of your other information.”

Crowe also said that while not everything will be tax-deductible, bringing in more information rather than less is always a good thing.
