Simpson College is hosting a Youth Basketball Night event on January 2nd, with all Indianola Basketball Association athletes able to enter free of charge.

The kids will be recognized at halftime, and be able to meet Simpson Basketball players and coaches after the game and receive autographs. Athletic Director Bob Nutgrass tells KNIA News events like these are beneficial to the college and the city, and helps create leadership qualities in the Simpson players

“We have held these nights in the past and it’s always fun to see the kids be recognized at halftime, and be able to run through some drills with the crowd watching and they are always in awe that they are doing it right where the teams were just playing. And we also get to instill in our athletes that giving back to the youth in the community is one of the most important things you can do in life, so we are teaching them and I think they get to have a little fun with it too.”

The Youth Basketball Night will take place on January 2nd, as the Storm take on Loras College. The women’s game begins at 6pm, and the men’s game at 8pm in Cowles Fieldhouse on the Simpson College Campus.
