Cleanup and repairs are still ongoing from the June windstorm that hit Indianola and Warren County, with FEMA funds still coming in to help with the rebuild.

Warren County Emergency Management Coordinator Troy Bass tells KNIA News the challenges the department faced in the immediate aftermath were how to apply for the funds.

“We had to create different projects to rebuild some of the things damaged in the storm such as roads, power lines, bridges, the public entities of the city and county. But we also tried to get help for private entities, and were able to get some small business loans for those that qualified to help with repairs.”

Bass also said the relationship between the city, county, state, and federal governments were very cooperative in responding to the storm, and credits the training all the emergency management departments have gone through.
