Out of a barrel filled with 10,000 tickets, one named emerged; and Christopher Owsik of Jackson, New Jersey is now the owner of a brand new sprint car…courtesy of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum.

The annual raffle took place at the museum on Friday morning, as tickets were drawn for the grand prize vehicle and several other prizes.

Bob Baker is the museum’s director, and got to do the honors; he tells KNIA/KRLS News the car was taken to tracks across the country, and selling these tickets at locations all over the sprint car circuit helps to give everyone in racing an opportunity to support the museum..

“It gets the race fans involved in purchasing the race tickets and showing them the raffle car and learning more about sprint car racing; also, it gets all the builders, manufacturers and suppliers that donate the parts and the labor,” Baker says.

“It gets all those people involved — not just in sprint car racing, but also in our museum to help us promote the future of the sport and preserve the past history of sprint car racing.”

Baker says the yearly raffle is the museum’s second-highest source of revenue, behind rental of its suites and other rooms in the building.

Owsik will be contacted by the museum and given the opportunity to come out to Knoxville and pick up the car. If he happens to be directly involved in racing, it can be put to immediate use on the track.

But if he isn’t, no problem; Baker says some prior winners who aren’t racers have sold their newly-won vehicles on line in a matter of minutes. The grand prize car is worth around $75,000.
