After years of achievements and memories, the newest inductees into the Knoxville High School Athletic Hall of Fame received their due a bit earlier than expected…but it didn’t change the meaning for them, their families and the school community.

Volleyball star Ann Davis-Kuenstling, basketball standout John Carle, all-state center Ben Willetts and former girls basketball coach Derald Swisher were all honored during the annual ceremony at the Knoxville High gymnasium, between games of the girls and boys basketball doubleheader.

Because of the threat of heavy snow, and the long distance their opponents from Davis County need to travel, the games were moved up 24 hours.

This didn’t diminish the cheers for all the recipients, as they were honored for their achievements on behalf of the Panthers…and joined other figures from the school’s sporting past in the Hall of Fame.

One element of the Hall of Fame day which hasn’t changed is the luncheon; it will be going on as scheduled this afternoon at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum.
