A new committee that was recently established in the Knoxville School District held their initial meeting recently and is working together to develop new ways to teach local students. The 21st Century Skills Committee met on November 17thwhere they received information from Lynn McCartney of the Area Education Agencies on job skills and employability skills that employers are now looking for. Dr. Flack says the committee then broke up into subcommittees to handle the different literacy skills and at their next meeting on November 29th the subcommittees will begin work to identify the skills that are important for Knoxville students. He says the committee should be able to complete their work within 3-4 meetings.
