Party primary elections for County and State offices will be held in June, which will decide who will run in the general election in November.

Jody Koffman with the Marion County Auditor’s Office tells KNIA/KRLS News if you want to vote early, or won’t be available on election day, you have options if you want to vote via absentee ballot. Absentee ballots are available now, and you can vote in the primary election with them. Koffman says the process of obtaining an absentee ballot is simple, just fill out a form you can get online at the county website or at the Auditor’s office at the Marion County Courthouse, and you just need a form of valid Iowa identification. The primary elections will be held on June 5th. Absentee ballots can also be mailed to the voter’s home if an absentee ballot request form is received by the request deadline of May 25. A valid and unexpired Iowa Driver’s License, Non-Operator ID or four digit PIN Number are required on the absentee ballot request form before an absentee ballot can be issued. If you have any questions, please contact the Marion County Auditor at 641-828-2217.A link for obtaining absentee ballots can be found below.
