Hopes of again returning to the State Soccer Tournament were seemingly dashed away from the Pella girls soccer team in a matter of minutes, as the No. 4-ranked Lady Dutch were stunned 3-1 by No. 9 ADM/Van Meter in Tuesday night’s Regional Final in Pella.
ADM/Van Meter left the Pella girls a bit shell-shocked by scoring two goals in the match’s first five minutes. Assistant Coach Mark Howard said the team’s play improved in the latter part of the second half, but by then the Tigers had too much momentum, despite only have an 8-to-9 advantage in shots on goal.
The loss ends the Lady Dutch soccer squad’s season at 13-4 overall. ADM/Van Meter moves on to the State Soccer Tournament and will face Glenwood in the opening round.
