Area students who haven’t had much experience on a farm will get just that with an Ag In The Classroom event on Thursday. Larry Rowley with Marion County Farm Bureau says the event is intended to give younger students an opportunity to learn more about agriculture. He says it’s important for kids to have a good understanding of how farms work and the role they play in our economy. Fourth graders from the area will experience nine different stations highlighting different aspects of a farm operation like the technology used in farm machinery, environmental lessons and food safety. Following the tour through the stations, the kids will be given a short test, and prizes will be awarded.
