The defense and pitching of the Pella High baseball team certainly gave them a chance at knocking off top-seeded Dallas Center-Grimes in Wednesday night’s Class 3A Substate Final, but hits were few and far between and the Mustangs methodically worked their way to a 4-0 victory.

Pella vs Chariton Finish (07-16-12)
A back-and-forth slugfest between Pella High and Chariton came down to the final out in Monday night’s 8-7 win for the Little Dutch in the Class 3A District Finals – a game that was heard live on 92.1 fm KRLS.

It was 11:46 p.m. – over six hours beyond the scheduled start time – when a strikeout delivered by Pella High’s Jacob Gleason finally ended Friday night’s Little Hawkeye Conference varsity baseball games between Knoxville and the Little Dutch; with Pella coming back in the nightcap with a 12-3 win after the Panthers’ thrilling 5-4 ten-inning win in the opener.
