Several local volleyball players earned All-Little Hawkeye Conference honors this fall.

Bailey Van Voorst and Anna Vander Waal of Pella are both now two-time honorees, as the duo of juniors was added to this year’s first team. Vander Waal had the most assists in conference games this season with 259 (28 per match), and Van Voorst had the 3rd most kills against league opponents at 122 (13.6 per match). This is the second straight season Van Voorst has earned 1st team honors.

Junior Lauren Blake is now a two-time first team selection, and now has been honored with Little Hawkeye Conference postseason awards in all three seasons of her career. Blake’s 37 service aces ranked 1st among conference teams during the league season, and her 93 kills were 5th best.


Avey Amelse of Pella Christian is a 1st team selection as well, with her 110 kills against league opponents ranking 4th in the Little Hawkeye. She was an honorable mention in 2019.

Sarah Gritters, Pella Christian
Lizzie Espenmiller-McGraw, Indianola

Honorable mentions included Pella’s Meridith Rowe and Macy Schulz, Pella Christian’s Trinity Vos and Kyah Chamberlin, and Indianola’s Kira Matthias and Kailey Peters.

Pella finished the regular conference season in 2nd place, and won the Little Hawkeye Conference tournament championship with a 4-0 performance. Indianola placed 3rd in the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season and 4th at the conference tournament. Pella Christian placed 6th among conference teams in 5th overall in the league tournament.
