Several local softball players earned the highest honor possible for their seasons from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Both Pella’s Maddie Parks and Knoxville’s Emery Neer were first-team All State honorees in Class 4A. Parks, who is heading to UNI this fall, hit .505 with 34 runs and 24 stolen bases this summer for the Lady Dutch, and struck out 146 batters in 160 innings as a pitcher with a 3.28 ERA. Neer, who will be a member of the Central Dutch next year, finished as the leading batter in Class 4A, with a .600 average, and stole 30 bases and scored 40 runs for the Panthers.

Indianola was well-represented in Class 5A, including Sophomore Destiny Lewis on the 1st team, Senior Sammie Becker on the 2nd team, and 12th grader Brooke Tucker and 10th grader Kate Kralik on the 3rd team. Indianola reached the Class 5A state tournament, their 5th appearance since 2012. Lewis hit .438 with 11 home runs and 39 runs scored for the Indians, Becker hit .385 with 9 home runs and 39 RBI, Tucker hit .431 with 15 home runs and 45 RBI and pitched 88 ⅓ innings with 49 strikeouts and a 1.43 ERA; and Kralik was 31-3 overall in the circle, with 168 strikeouts and a 1.24 ERA.

In Class 2A, Pella Christian’s Chloe Morgan, a junior, was a 3rd team All-State honoree, tying a team record with 30 stolen bases. Makenzie McGriff of Pleasantville was a 1st team honoree, hitting .504 to lead the Trojans. Josie Sowers and Abby DeJoode were also 2nd team All-State, as Sowers led the team with 62 hits and 50 runs, as well as 16 stolen bases, and DeJoode was the ace of the staff, winning 15 games pitching with 142 Ks in 133 innings.

Brooke Roby of Twin Cedars was a 1A 2nd team All-State selection and Ali Mockenhaupt was an honorable mention — and both were freshmen members of the Sabers. Roby hit .417 and stole 29 bases, scoring 54 runs and Mockenhaupt had a 2.56 ERA in 71 innings, and also hit .411 this season. Senior Emilie Krpan of Melcher-Dallas was a 1st team selection in Class 1A, with sophomore Haley Godfrey a 2nd team honoree and 10th grader Riley Enfield a 3rd team selection. Krpan was 27-4 as a pitch, with 252 strikeouts in 178 innings. Godfrey led the Saints with 51 hits and 50 runs scored, while Enfiled had a team high five home runs and 14 stolen bases. Krpan is heading to Briar Cliff to continue her softball career.
