pleasantville-3

Like every other team in the state, the Pleasantville football team is not able to meet for their normal offseason workouts. Instead, the coaching staff is sending out at-home workout programs for the student-athletes to complete on their own time. Head Coach Mack Jorth says that while this situation is far from ideal, it’s turning out to be a great lesson for the students to hold themselves accountable and take personal ownership of their training.

“It drives you a little crazy because you can’t know for sure exactly what they’re doing, if they’re getting what they need, doing it with the right technique, taking steps in the right direction. But, you have to at least be encouraged by what they’re trying to do and the efforts they’re giving at home. So it’s definitely a positive, just their chance to take their own ownership and personal accountability. So it’s good from that vantage point, you just hope we’ll come out of this on the other side ready to rock and roll.”

The coaching staff has divided the team into groups, and each group has a leader to periodically check in with the other team members to make sure everything is going alright. The Trojans are scheduled to get their season underway on Friday, August 28th, at home against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
