One of the more recognizable characters at Tulip Time is the famous Bergermiester. The Bergermiester plays the role of village mayor during the festival. For the past 11 years, Randy Sikkema has put on the top hat and cape and provided hosting services for various shows during Tulip Time, participated in the parade and been an ambassador for festival goers. Sikkema says he enjoys the role, as it gives him an opportunity to meet people from all over the country and the world who come to Tulip Time.
