The Bicentennial Complex at the Pella Historical Village celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. The complex was built in 1975 and 1976 to mark the nation’s Bicentennial that year. Village Director Patsy Sadler says the goal then was to recreate some of the architectural cues found in early buildings in the area. She says the project really sparked people’s imaginations and then as now, took the work of many in order for everything to come together.
