With warmer temperatures and more daylight each day more and more people are out and about for longer periods of time and it’s important to remember to take the necessary safety precautions.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada reminds bicyclists they too have to obey the same traffic laws as motor vehicle drivers do. This includes use the right side of the road, abide by stoplights and stop signs and ride defensively.
Pella Police Lieutenant Paul Hasse adds that it’s important for cyclists to wear the right safety gear such as helmets, pads and bright colors and recommends using the sidewalks at night.
