Last night’s Red Rock Fest saw great summer weather and a great turnout for the races. Seventy-five plus turned out for the Running of the Rocks 5K and Cordova Tower Climb. Overall winners for the 5K were Bryan George of Pella with a time of 16:50 and Courtney Waltbillig of Indianola with a time of 18:26. Each took home a prize of $50. At the Tower Climb, 8 men and 5 women competed with Eric Lee and Katherine Gilarmis making the trip the quickest. And if you find yourself at Red Rock again today and have ever wanted to see bobcats up close, you will have your chance Wednesday afternoon at the Lake Red Rock Visitor’s Center. The Pella Wildlife Company will be there with a pair of bobcat kittens and to answer any questions. Park Ranger Tracy Spry says this is an opportunity to learn about the mostly nocturnal creature that is currently making a comeback in Iowa. The event begins at 1 pm.
