Multiple boys track and field athletes have already punched their ticket to the Drake Relays after their performances Friday at the IATC Indoor Track and Field meet Friday in Ames, with multiple local teams sending competitors.

Chase Lauman had a banner day for the Dutch, not only placing first in the 1600m and 3200m by a significant margin, but meeting the Blue Standard to already qualify for the Drake Relays, just one of multiple Pella boys top 10 finishers. Others included Quinn Gruver placing 6th in the 60m Dash, Luke Fairchild placed 5th in the 60m Hurdles, Wyatt Van Dyke was 9th in the 800m, Canaan Dunham was in 4th place behind Lauman in the 1600m, Hanson King and Brandon Fischer were 2nd and 4th respectively in the Shot Put, and Bailey Shetterly was 9th in the Long Jump. Pella also took home a first place finish in the 4x800m Relay, 7th in the 4x400m Relay, and 6th in the Shuttle Hurdle. Pella took home the class 3A team title at the meet as well, earning 60 points.

Trevor Veenstra earned one of the earliest qualifying spots at Drake in the Pella Christian boys team history, as he threw 55-06.75 in the Shot Put to place 2nd.

The Indianola boys were paced by a 7th place finish by Logan Piper in the 400m Hurdles, Liam Kelso was 9th in the Long Jump, and the 4x100m Relay Team placed 10th.

For the Warriors of Norwalk, Jacey Hutson placed 4th in the 400m, Ben Hanson 8th in the 800m, Jameson Giesemann 7th in the High Jump, and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team was 8th.

The Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team won the gold medal at the meet while Gavin Fenton took home 4th place in the 60m Hurdles for the PCM Mustangs squad, while Pleasantville’s Yusuf Gulley dominated in the Long Jump going for 21-07.75
