Carson Macedo had a score to settle with the Knoxville Raceway. Back on June 10th, when the World of Outlaws held their show at Knoxville, Macedo was carried out in an ambulance to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics suffering from burns after he crashed and his car caught on fire in the aftermath. Fast forward to Thursday night on night two of the 62nd Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals and Macedo exercised all the demons by winning the preliminary A-Main as heard live on KNIA. Anthony Macri would grab the lead from his pole starting spot and lead the first 16 laps, dealing with red and yellow flags. But on a restart, Macedo slid Macri and took the lead. Macedo had to deal with a couple of late red flags, but eventually pulled away. He said in victory lane, it was great to get a win on the track and nearly injured him severely just two months ago.

Macedo: “To win here at Knoxville Raceway and to have that wreck. I hadn’t had a wreck that bad before and Beaver Dam was agony, and to come back here and win is pretty incredible.”

While Macedo was leaving everyone behind in the waning laps, Macri, Kyle Larson, and Spencer Bayston were all trying to get on the podium with Larson and Bayston winning that battle going 2nd and 3rd respectively. After two nights of racing, the top 16 drivers are now locked into the Saturday night A-Main and on the pole is 2021 Nationals Winner and current NASCAR Star Kyle Larson with Rico Abreu, who charged from 21st to 5th in last night’s A-Main. The 2nd row will be Donny Schatz and Logan Schuchart. Drivers 17th-26th are locked into the first five rows of the B-Main on Saturday. Anyone 27th and lower must come back tonight to requalify during Hard Knox Night. Listen to all the action with Live TrackSide at 5:00 and Race Nights live at 7:00 on the DeYarman Automotive Radio Racing Network on KNIA.
