A large and experienced senior class leads a large crop of athletes out for girls soccer this year at Pella Christian, and co-captains Karianne Bolt, Kylie Lamb and Christina Nolte are anxious to find out what the season has in store for them. KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall caught up with the Eagle captains on this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page to find out what they’re expecting out of the season, why their final year at Pella Christian has been a blast, and what it is about their head coach that makes him special.

With most of the members of last year’s State Tournament-qualifying team back from a season ago, the expectations were high in the 2011-12 season for the Pella Christian girls basketball team. After a long and challenging journey, the Lady Eagles again find themselves among the eight-team field at Wells Fargo Arena, with their State Tournament run starting this Tuesday morning. Following Pella Christian’s win over Monticello on Monday night, KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall talked with all seven seniors on this year’s squad about what makes this season different, what they’ve enjoyed the most about the ride so far, and why they think they’ve got what it takes to make a splash in “the Well”.

A scoring rally in the third quarter helped the Pella Christian girls basketball team break open an evenly-matched contest with Grinnell, as the Lady Eagles defeated the Tigers 54-41 last night in Pella.

After having Tuesday night off from competition, the Pella Christian girls begin their second trip through the Little Hawkeye Conference schedule tonight with a home game against South Tama.
