After a closed session during their regular meeting on Monday, the Knoxville City Council accepted a partial payment claim for a pending lawsuit for sewer repairs made at 509 E. Main St. The city sewer main was damaged by the collapse of a privately owned sewer lateral. The city filed the suit back in April to guarantee they would receive the approximately $54,000 spent on the repair of the sewer in May of 2011. The partial payment claim is from the insurance company for nearly $41,000 while the rest of the $54,000 will be sought from the current property owner.
