Led by an impressive night at the plate by Madyson Riebhoff, the Melcher-Dallas softball team out-hit Clarke 8-to-7, but couldn’t get runs across the plate in a 6-1 loss Wednesday night to the Class 3A No. 12-ranked Indians.

Tessa Howerzyl slugged her second home run of the season and Jenna Roose went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with a double, but it wasn’t enough to push the Pella Christian softball team past a very good Clarke squad, as the Lady Eagles took a 9-5 setback Tuesday night in Osceola.

Pleasantville earned a split on the basketball court last night, as the girls lost a lopsided 48-17 game to Clarke of Osceola, while the Trojan boys defeated the visiting Indians 60-45.

While few, if any, high school football coaches would admit to a guaranteed victory, the Pella Christian football team has about the next closest thing tonight, as they’ll take on a Clarke team that has only won a single game since the 2008 season.
