The Knoxville City Council tabled an ordinance that would have banned most citizens from carrying a firearm in a city-owned building last night during their regular meeting. There was some discussion that the language was too over-reaching, and most of the Council agreed that they’d like to see it made more specific toward buildings. They also wanted to have a further discussion with Police Chief Dan Losada to further understand the ordinance. Losada was not present during the first part of the meeting due to a prior obligation with the school district.

The Council also agreed to changes to board and commission by-laws that will ensure they meet on a regular basis, and voted to move ahead with a purchase of new snow removal equipment that will help city workers cut down on the time spent clearing sidewalks by about 27%.
